Team Viscardi Traverses Long Island in Ride to Montauk
Team Viscardi, comprised of nearly 100 bicyclists, participated in the annual Ride to Montauk cycle tour to raise awareness and critical funds for programs and services provided to children and adults with disabilities.
Executive Director of Henry Viscardi School Receives LIASEA Award
Patrice McCarthy Kuntzler, Executive Director of the Henry Viscardi School at The Viscardi Center, received an Award of Distinction from the Long Island Association of Special Education Administrators.
Nassau D.A. Speaks at PROSPER Program Ceremony
Westbury and Freeport High School students enrolled in Abilities, Inc., at The Viscardi Center’s PROSPER Drop-Out Prevention/Attendance program, providing educational and vocational supports for at-risk youths, were recognized at a ceremony attended by Nassau District Attorney Kathleen Rice.
Henry Viscardi School Senior Receives Yes I Can! Award
Raquel Bernstein, a senior at the Henry Viscardi School at The Viscardi Center, received a 2013 Yes I Can! Award from the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). One of 21 recipients, Raquel was honored with the Award in the transition category.
Notable Sports Legends & Personalities Team Up at Annual Celebrity Sports Night
The Viscardi Center is hosting its 47th Annual Celebrity Sports Night on May 16. Guests have the opportunity to collect autographs and speak with the celebrity and athlete attendees. This year’s athletes include Joe Theismann, Joe Namath, Stephen Baker, Mookie Wilson and Johnny Weir.
Free Vision Awareness Day Event
The Kornreich Technology Center at The Viscardi Center is hosting a Vision Awareness Day on May 28, 2013. The goal of this all day, free event is to introduce the community to products which assist the blind and low vision populations.
Boot Camp Program Lets NBDC Member Companies Get in Shape for Proposed OFCCP Rule Change
The National Business & Disability Council at The Viscardi Center is offering its member companies a Boot Camp program to prepare them for the anticipated change the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs’ (OFCCP) will be making to the Section 503 rules.
Fashion Designs Made of Trash Highlight of Earth Day Celebration
The students of the Henry Viscardi School participated in an Earth Day celebration which included a parade of species, a fashion show featuring original designs by high school students created from trash, an art exhibit, and a musical performance with instruments made from recycled garbage.
47th Annual Celebrity Sports Night Is Star-Studded
